Clear terms for a local-first product.

These terms govern use of the Breakwater Chrome extension and website. By installing Breakwater or purchasing Pro, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the product.
The service
Breakwater monitors public developer changelogs and user-selected RSS or Atom feeds, classifies changes with deterministic rules, and stores its workspace locally in Chrome. It is an aid for engineering review—not a substitute for reading the original source, testing an integration, or exercising professional judgment. Feed availability, wording, and dates remain under their publishers' control.
Free and Pro
Free includes three core sources, one Stack, daily checks, and 30-day history. Pro currently costs US$6 per month or US$49 per year and adds all curated sources, custom feeds, unlimited Stacks, hourly checks, 90-day history, reminders, and optional Slack alerts. One Pro license may be activated in up to three browsers. License keys may not be shared, resold, or used to provide a competing service.
Billing and renewal
Polar is the Merchant of Record and processes checkout, tax, receipts, subscription changes, cancellations, and approved refunds. Pro renews automatically at the billing interval and price shown at checkout until cancelled. You can cancel from the Polar customer portal linked in your receipt; cancellation stops the next renewal and Pro remains available through the paid period unless a refund or legal requirement ends it earlier.
Refund policy
You may request a refund for an initial purchase within 14 days by emailing support@breakwaters.dev. Eligibility depends on applicable law and use of the service, and Polar issues approved refunds. Renewal charges are generally final except where required by law or in cases such as duplicate or technically erroneous billing. Cancel before the renewal date if you do not want the next period. This policy does not limit mandatory consumer rights.
Acceptable use
Do not use Breakwater to access feeds you are not authorized to access, bypass authentication, probe private networks, abuse third-party services, distribute a license key, or violate applicable law. Custom sources must be public HTTPS RSS or Atom feeds. We may disable a license used fraudulently or in material breach of these terms.
Availability and liability
The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis to the extent permitted by law. We do not promise that every publisher will maintain a feed or that every change will be classified perfectly. To the maximum extent permitted by law, liability arising from Breakwater is limited to the amount paid for Pro during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes and contact
